Lookmetry

About Lookmetry

Lookmetry builds measurement tools for decisions about how things fit and suit you: eyewear, colour, proportion. It exists because the free tools in this space mostly guess, present the guess as a verdict, and give you no way to tell whether the answer is solid.

What we do differently

Every tool here has to meet three conditions before it goes live.

It measures rather than estimates. Where a real dimension exists, we measure it and report it in millimetres. Where only a classification is possible, we show the measurements the classification was derived from and the thresholds we used, so you can disagree with us.

It states its confidence. A camera measurement has scatter. Reporting a single decimal place with no error term implies a precision that does not exist. Our tools report the spread they actually observed and warn you when a reading is unsettled.

It runs on your device. Face analysis models are small enough to run in a browser using WebAssembly, so there is no reason to send photographs to a server. We do not, for any tool. There is no upload step, no account, and no image storage, because we never receive the image in the first place.

What we will not build

We do not build attractiveness scores, beauty ratings, or golden-ratio "perfection" analysis. The mathematics behind them is arbitrary, the output is presented with false authority, and the effect on the people most likely to seek them out is not good. There is a large amount of traffic in that category and we are not going after it.

We also do not offer medical or diagnostic assessments. A measurement is not a diagnosis, and nothing on this site substitutes for a qualified optometrist, dermatologist or physician.

Who is behind it

Lookmetry is an independent project, run as a small team rather than under an individual byline. Tools and articles are published under the brand, and editorial responsibility sits with Lookmetry. If you find a measurement you believe is wrong, we want to hear about it — corrections take priority over new features. Write to us at [email protected].

How the site is paid for

Advertising, and in future affiliate links to eyewear and cosmetics retailers. Where a link earns us a commission we will say so on the page carrying it. No advertiser or affiliate partner has any influence over what a tool measures or what it recommends, and we will not add a recommendation to a tool because someone pays for placement.
